14.04.2021 / 18:00
- 19:30
Ivonne Thein is a visual artist whose multimedia works explore the socio-political status of the body in the digital age. In her works she deals with gender roles, the transience of the body, posthumanism, and the change of our contemporary idea of body, in the context of digital image techniques. In her lecture she gives an insight into her work and her artistic development, from an initially purely photographic practice, to a multimedia way of working.
Ivonne Thein, studied photography with Susanne Brügger and Cindy Gates at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts from 2003 - 2009 and fine art at RMIT Melbourne in 2007. Thein received scholarships from the Stiftung Kunstfonds Bonn, the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen and a studio grant from the Berlin Senate. In 2008 she was the winner of the CO Berlin Talents Award. Her work has been shown nationally and internationally in solo and group exhibitions, including Fotomuseum Winterthur, Kunsthalle Karlsruhe, Lentos Linz, CO Berlin, Kunsthalle Kiel, Städtische Galerie Karlsruhe, Deutsches Hygienemuseum Dresden, ACP Sydney, and Amelie A.
