Pop-Up! Unveiling 3D worlds from Paper
Only a few people had glimpses of Peter Dahmen’s foldable paper creations for years. In 2010, a YouTube short film changed that. The overwhelming response turned him into a social media sensation, attracting international commissions. Working as a freelancer, he has created stunning designs for major brand owners. Some of his pop-up card designs became bestsellers at the MoMA Store in New York. In his inspiring talk, the designer showcases remarkable projects and offers insights into the creation process of his pop-up models. He will discuss the world's probably most giant pop-up card and his most complex pop-up sculpture to date, crafted for Netflix’s stop-motion animation film “Wendell and Wild.”
Peter Dahmen, born in 1967, studied Communication Design at Dortmund’s University of Applied Sciences and Arts. After graduating in 1994, he embarked on a design career. Since his student days, he has passionately designed paper pop-up models, gaining global recognition for his expertise in paper engineering. His pop-up designs range from compact packaging to elaborate stage sets. In addition to client projects, he designs artistic paper sculptures. His unique creations have been shown at various international exhibitions.
