The University of Silesia encompasses twelve faculties and a number of units located in four cities of Upper Silesia – Katowice, Chorzów, Sosnowiec and Cieszyn.
The Faculty of Radio and Television (Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School) in Katowice was created in 1978. In 2001, by the decision of the Senate of the University of Silesia, it was named after Krzysztof Kieślowski. The School is an organizational unit of the University of Silesia educating in particular in the field of art and artistic disciplines. The structure of the School includes three degree programmes: Film and Television Production, Film and Television Directing, Cinematography and Photography. In addition, the School includes: atelier, specialized laboratories: large format photography, editing, multimedia techniques, photography, IT and a library with an archive.
