Since 2019, graphic designer, book designer, and publisher Anja Lutz has been running the A—Z project space on Berlin’s Torstraße. After six years of presenting, researching, and exploring experimental graphic design, the book “On the Edges of Graphic Design from A—Z—∞” was published in 2025. It not only documents exhibitions, workshops, discussions, and community-building activities, but also invites 36 international designers—including April Greiman, Luna Maurer, Katharina Nejdl, Richard Niessen, John Walters, Prem Krishnamurthy, and Golnar Kat Rahmani—to envision the future of graphic design through original contributions.
Anja Lutz describes her working method as “practical exploration of alternative approaches to thinking and design in graphic design” and will offer insights into her practice during her talk: the concepts behind the exhibitions at A—Z, the collaboration with the guests, creative perspectives on the future of graphic design, and the process from the exhibition through the design of the book and back to the exhibition.
