Lecture Alejandro Cartagena
Mexican photographer Alejandro Cartagena became known to a wider audience for his award-winning book "Carpoolers". He is an artist, teacher and patron of photography. His projects are primarily documentary and use landscape and portrait as a means to study social, urban and environmental issues in Latin America. His work also deals with the history of photography on a meta-level by reinterpreting or reconsidering the way in which important topics in the past were addressed or presented. This has broadened his aesthetic and conceptual approach and added levels of meaning to his complex interpretations of our society.
For the past 13 years, Alejandro has created works that show different ways of thinking about the interdependence of man and landscape in the face of increasing urbanization. During his presentation, he will present various projects and books dealing with these topics.
As an avid bookmaker, he will also show you the possibilities in his presentation of the possibilities the photo book has opened up for him in order to sharpen his artistic expression.
