Professor Thomas Neuhaus (ICEM der Folkwang UdK) wird über Elektronische Musik (abseits vom Bumm-Tschak) sprechen!
Thomas Neuhaus ist Komponist und Musikinformatiker, seit 2004 Professor an der Folkwang Universität der Künste und dort seit 2011 Leiter des ICEM (Institut für Computermusik und elektronische Medien).
Neben den verschiedensten Verbindungen von (meist elektronischer) Musik und Bühnenkünsten interessiert ihn vor allem die Formalisierung und automatische Generierung musikalischer Strukturen.
Das ICEM (Institut für Computermusik und elektronische Medien) der Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen, gegründet 1990, ist hervorgegangen aus dem “Elektronischen Studio” und dem “Studio für Live Elektronik”, die seit 1971 für elektronische Musik an der Folkwang verantwortlich gewesen sind. Das ICEM soll die “Forschung und Entwicklung in kunstrelevanten Gebieten aus Informatik und Medientechnologie für die kompositorische Verwendung in den musikalisch-akustischen, visuellen und darstellenden Bereichen künstlerisch und wissenschaftlich fördern…” (aus der Präambel der Institutsordnung)

Thomas Neuhaus is a composer and music computer scientist, professor at the Folkwang University of the Arts since 2004, and head of the ICEM (Institute for Computer Music and Electronic Media) there since 2011.
In addition to the most diverse connections between (primarily electronic) music and stage arts, he is particularly interested in the formalization and automatic generation of musical structures.
The ICEM (Institute for Computer Music and Electronic Media) of the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, founded in 1990, emerged from the "Electronic Studio" and the "Studio for Live Electronics," which had been responsible for electronic music at Folkwang since 1971.
The ICEM shall artistically and scientifically promote research and development in areas relevant to the arts from computer science and media technology for compositional use in the musical-acoustic, visual, and performing fields... (from the Preamble of the Institute's Regulations).
